Diamond Grinder is a New York-based folk-rock band formed in 2021 by Margaret Nygard and Eli Recht-Appel, whose songwriting partnership traces back to early attempts during their high school days in San Francisco, California. After many years of off-and-on collaboration between the pair, Nygard moved to New York City in the summer of 2021, where Recht-Appel had lived for the previous five years. The two, both residing in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens, began to write music together frequently, overtime generating the material for their forthcoming debut album, Expectations, for which they are playing a release show at The Sultan Room in Brooklyn on June 18th, 2023, with support from Trace Mountains and Poise.

In my lifetime a top three songwriter for me personally. Everything he did I absolutely loved from Backrow Baptists, Some Dark Holler to his two solo albums and stuff before and in between. He had the rare ability to write emotionally moving songs about life and have the painful aching vocal sound to make you believe his words. Absolutely tragic his life was cut short by a semi on the highway. He was starting to find his groove. Outlaw Americana Country at its best. He was/is the GOAT 🐐 Yimmy Kil
Entire album is excellent. As is the rest of the catalog. Go back to 1970...take the Dead and Floyd and roll them up. Yet completely different.
Just plain old GOOD MUSIC. Ed Fransko
